Hello and welcome!
My condolences for you and your partner on your loss. I know how difficult this is.
As far as your reading...are you
open to the option of medication? If so, you can talk to your doctor about
a temporary Rx for Propranolol. It can be used just as needed, and has little in the way of side effects.
If you'd rather not use a med...than coping skills are going to be your best bet. Being prepared of course is key, so practice your delivery beforehand for confidence.
Breath control is also important. Keep your breathing slow and avoid shallow breaths by using your diaphragm. We have breathing exercises in our Resources at the top of the main forum page here, so be sure to have a look at all of our self help material.
Positive mantras and affirmations are some of my best coping skills. Keep your thoughts positive, and tell yourself that you can and will do a great job honoring your MIL with your words.
....and I agree with AK...if you cry, it will only adds emotion and sincerity to her memorial.
Best wishes, and post with us anytime for support!
