I am having some unsettling symptoms I'm hoping someone can shed some light and advice on. I was prescribed Nortriptyline by my PCP for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. Apparently it has some sort of muscle relaxing properties. I started taking it at 10mg for a 1 week, then 20 mg for the second week, and then 30mg on the third week. Around the time I started on 20mg and then moved to 30mg I started to notice my heart rate felt faster, and my chest felt different. I backed my dosage back to 10mg for a week and then stopped taking it. It has been almost a week since I stopped taking it and my heart rate hasn't returned to normal... I'm worried the drug might have done something to my heart or heart rhythm. I am 30 years old, in good shape.
My normal resting heart rate is 50-60 sleeping / laying down resting, now it is ranging from 70-80
My normal heart rate at just sitting at my desk at work is 65-70, now its 80-90
My normal heart rate taking a walk is 95-100, now its 110 - 120.
My heart rate going up the stairs at work used to be around 95-105 when I got to the top, now is 125-140
My normal heart rate running is 150-160, 165-170 if I really push myself, I'm afraid to even try right now because given the other increases I've seen it might be almost 200 BPM
I want to note I wasn't prescribed Nortriptyline for anxiety, but every since taking it I've had anxiety issues re-surface, maybe because my heart doesn't feel quite right and is beating faster. I've found it more difficult to relax lately.
