As if being on the roller coaster of my moms end of life journey isn't enough now this

Yes mom made it thru daughter's wedding and now Christmas! But not without many scares causing me to check flights only to have her do a 360.

So I went for my routine yearly mammo and I got a call back. That was totally unexpected but I tried not to be concerned. Thought it was probably a tech error as it seemed quicker then normal and she didn't adjust the plate for my short stature and I was on tip toes.

So I go back and they did a 3D and they still saw something so I had to get an ultrasound and they say I have a solid nodule deep in my breast and I have to have it biopsied.

I know they probably can't say much one way or the other to cover themselves but I didn't get a warm & fuzzy feeling. They sent the results to my dr. so he could refer me to a breast specialist but he wasn't in so I didn't get to talk to him. His nurse called me and gave me the phone number so I could schedule the ultrasound guided biopsy......I only have 10 days to wait

I'm scared because I'm a needle phobe and it's deep in the breast
I'm scared because I don't even have enough in me to deal with my mom in health- I can't be sick

I am sorry that this is happening right now...I know you already have enough to deal with and the timing is just awful!

However, try not to get ahead of yourself. As of now, you just have a nodule that needs to be checked out...because that's what they always do. Almost always these things turn out to be nothing. smile

I know you don't want to go through the procedure...and who would? Ugh, we do have a burden dealing with these things as women! I am sorry you have to have it done...but you are stronger than you know, and I always hear things like, 'It was way easier than I had anticipated.'

Ask if you can take a benzo pre-procedure...I am pretty sure you'll be able to.

We are sending our love, support and prayers with you as you have your appointment. You will be going in around the 10 or 11th?

Post as needed...we will be here to help keep you calm.
