I figured out a long time ago that if my Prozac generic is changed to a different manufacture I will experience side effects similar to start up, I'm thinking its because of the slight tweak in milligrams. I'm that sensitive. Once again my generic Prozac's manufacture has changed or this time actually discontinued, so I had no choice but to go with this manufacture. Four days later and I'm getting nasty side effects.
Anyone else this sensitive to a change in manufactures of your medicine? Or...maybe you didn't realize this is why sometimes you don't feel well. smhair

Many times this happens because of the different fillers used in the medications. It can sure make things tough until a person can become use to it. This has happened to me a few times & usually after a few weeks my body adjusts.

Hi

Yes there is defiantly a difference between generic medications although I have been told many times by my pharmacist and doctor that they are exactly the same which I don't believe.

I had this experience just last month.I even mentioned my concerns about the different manufacturer to my pharmacist and she said the same thing.They are all sertaline so it's fine.However I experienced a lot of breakthrough anxiety for about ten days.Now there isn't a problem.

I have heard that you can have your Rx replicated by a compounding pharmacy...so essentially the same inert ingredients are used in order to avoid reactions in sensitive patients.

I don't know how accurate or effective this info is...I just know that I have read of people doing this...and I think it may be costly. (and not covered by most insurances)

...but for what it's worth, you may want to look into it?

I had this experience with Paxil probably 20 years ago. The doctor told me she thought it was BS that it could even make a difference. I know it wasn't in my mind because I wanted to believe the generic was going to work. They were much less expensive.
