Stereotypic Movements in GAD/PD?

Hello everyone,

So far, I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder with comorbid diagnoses of generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. I posted the following question under the bipolar forum as well.

Question: Have any of you diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder experienced stereotypical movement with the disorder? For instance, I have involuntarily rocked back and forth my whole life (since 3 months old). I can't really find any literature that states stereotypical movement is associated with GAD or PD, or even bipolar disorder for that matter (all references point to it being associated with autism), so looking to see what you all have to say!

Could this just be an early manifestation of a self soothing coping skill...that became an ingrained habit?

I have heard of babies, young children doing this as a behavior, not related to a disorder...but to fill an emotional need of some kind.

If you have ruled out all possible physical causes, have you asked your P-doc his/her take on this?
