I am looking for a new medication to try for my grief/depression/anxiety - I want one with very few side effects if possible. Wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I have a lot of tension headaches and hormonal issues along with having two family members (sister and mom) die within the last two years. the only sister I have left is a narcissist and isn't grieving with me. makes it very difficult. also going through a break up with my boyfriend of 2.5 years my dr recommended Celexa. the common side affects sound bad. ugh

You have so much going on currently...so first of all, sending HUGS your way.

Secondly, do some research on Buspar (Buspirone). It is an anxiolytic for managing GAD. Not the strongest or most effective Rx (doesn't really touch panic or acute anxiety) but tends to be lower as far as s/e's go. Maybe this as a daily and a benzo as needed for rough spots/panic attacks could be the right regimen?

Hi.

Yes you do have a lot going on at the moment so I will also send hugs your way.

It's a tough question to answer as we all react differently when taking an antidepressant. I have tried many and for me Lexapro was by far the best and I had no side effects.

Also don't rely on medication look into self help and therapy options we have some good links in our resources section.

yes I took buspar years ago - maybe I should look into again - my gyno just recommended a low does birth control pill or taking progesterone half the month. not sure I want to do either of these.
I am going to see my therapist tomorrow. I just had an hour massage that was so good for me. smile

just as I was writing this I remember a friend taking celexa years ago and telling me she gained tons of weight. ugh

I take celexa at its lowest dose and side effects are nill. I don't even know I am taking a med except I don't have anxiety any more. I got by on just buspar for several years and did ok for the most part. . its worth a try again
