panic symptoms very similar to pulmonary hypertension

I just found this site, and was reading a couple posts about panic attacks. I have recently been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a progressive chronic lung/heart disease. It took FOREVER to get a doctor to believe that the symptoms were NOT panic attacks. Finally, a right heart cath proved it was PH. The symbol for PH is the zebra because sometimes things SOUND like horses but they are zebras. For all those who have panic attacks but just are not sure, please mention PH to your doctor. It may save your life, or at least prolong it. Without diagnosis and treatment, most PH people only live about three years. Visit the pulmonary hypertension association website and read about it.

Do keep in mind that this is a rare condition and that most of the time a panic attack is just that...a panic attack.

Since many of us find our health anxiety exacerbated by symptom searching/researching diseases and conditions...

...I am going to advise against looking up PH...unless your doctor has put you in a high risk category for heart disease.
