Worried

Sorry y’all this is causing a ton of anxiety. Anyone get a migraine with aura after bumping their head? I got them frequently on their own for about a year but nothing in the last two to three years until today- I hit the soft spot on the side of the head on a glass shower door while cleaning the bathroom. I got a sharp pain that felt odd but it wasn’t the that hard so I ignored it and eit faded fast. Then about 5 to 10 minutes later I noticed I was having visual disturbances that transitioned into the scintillating scatoma and classic migraine with aura symptoms. The migraine head pain passed later in the day But the pain moved to my shoulder where it still continues to ache. Migraines with auras on their own don’t don’t upset me other than being really unpleasant but now I’m not sure if I should be concerned about when it happened and I feel so conflicted between under and over reacting

Are you having nausea...extreme fatigue, confusion? Do your eyes look normal...no uneven dilation of the affected side pupil?

If so, you are probably alright, and the bump simply triggered the migraine.

However, since concussion and migraine symptoms can overlap,,,if you continue to feel 'off', checking in with your doctor would probably be a good idea.

I definitely would recommend getting a second input on the possibility of Botox for relief...it doesn't hurt to try!

@theHTreturns, what helped you get rid of them or did they go away on their own?

I remember the last bout of them I had 3 years ago lasted for several months and were very frequent. I felt like I was on a roller coaster and lived in a bit of a daze. I’m not really sure what triggered it then and what would be triggering it now (other than the bump to the head?) nothing really stands out.

I’ll have to get back to someone about in the near future if it continues. I feel completely overloaded right now. Besides some major stresses at work and home, I’m dealing with a temperamental hernia that I have to deal with soon and juggling appointments and procedures I have to do leading up to that, which I have to keep bumping later due to work obligations and the not so well timed migraine. Still feel like I have residual problems finding words at times ( or maybe I always had trouble from time to time and didn’t realize🤷‍♀️) stress wise though I’ve had much much higher levels of stress and not had it trigger migraines so who knows.
