My doctor suggested that I could split my SSRI and take half of the dose, twice a day. He suggested that because the SSRI is impairing my sleep and causing me to wake up too early, and feeling agitated. Has anyone here done that? Did it help? Thanks.

I haven't but I have heard about
it before. You will get the same amount of medication, just slower. It sounds like it might help. I hope that it does...

When I went on Clozaril back in 2011, I took one and a half pills in the morning and one and a half pills just before bedtime. But it was making me sleepy during the day too much. So my doctor at the time told me to take just one pill in the morning and two pills at night instead.
It worked. Ever since making that change my Clozaril no longer makes me tired during the day.

I forgot... When I was taking Effexor I took 375mg a day. It was five capsules. Two in the morning and three in the afternoon. Worked for me.

I’m going to try it, starting today, and see how it goes. Pharmacist said it’s not unusual.

So I have now been on the split dose for a few days and my anxiety seems worse. It’s the same 50 mg / day so I would not expect that. Maybe the worse anxiety isn’t related to the split dose. Who knows.
I might need to increase to 75 mg. My doc suspected I would probably need that. But I’m not looking forward to the side effects.

Medved, if your doctor does decide to increase to 75 mg, you may not get added side effects like you're fearing. You might luck out.

That’s true. I might get lucky. I’m just slightly gun-shy because I had annoying side effects initially, mostly impaired sleep and morning agitation. I guess if it’s really bad I can always reduce to 50 mg.
