Comparing Similar Anti-Anxiety Meds

I've been on 40 mg citalopram (Celexa) for 10 years. It works well to reduce anxiety with no apparent side effects.

Has anyone has been on both citalopram (Celexa) and escitalopram (Lexapro). Not at the same time, of course. Did you find that one worked better for anxiety than the other at an equivalent dose?

Essentially, these two drugs are almost the same. Both are available as generics.

Hi Tim G, I have heard of Lexapro but I was under the impression that it was the same one. I agree with you on citalopram, smooth and effective.

Lexapro i found not effective for anxiety. HT

i tried lex first and was far too strong and my body couldnt handle it. no problem with celexia . i only take 10mg . 10 mg of lex is equal to 40 mg of celexia

Hi I have been on both and found Lexapro to be the most effective at both anxiety and depression.
