I have anxiety about getting a mammogram though.

I have the anxiety condition for awhile already. I will have to get a mammogram ya. I have some anxiety of getting it since I haven't done any before. Can someone tell me how it is it like. I would like to know more about getting one ya. Any advice would be nice. Thanks.

Good for you for getting a mammogram! I believe they recommend getting your first one at least by age 50. You can rest assured they try to keep the procedure as stress-less as possible. The whole process usually takes 10 minutes or so. Of course at some point, the machine they use does need to compress your breast a bit so that it will show a good "reading", but the little discomfort does not last long. Afterward, you will feel good knowing you did the right thing. You'll be fine! Let us know how it goes smile

Topo is correct. There is a little discomfort but it doesn't last long.

I did the mammogram ya. I think I have less anxiety about it since I went to do it. I have some pain in my breast from doing the mammogram. Will this go away in awhile. I don't get why the person say that I may have to go back to do another one later ya. I don't know what to think about it. Can someone give me some advice on this. Thanks.

Hi there,

The pain will subside. Mine always get a little sore.

If this is your first one, don't be surprised if they want to take another look. I am sure everything is fine. I think that the first one is called a base line mammogram. If they didn't get a good look or are suspicious about something they will do another one. I use to get them once a year. I had microcalcification in 2000. I had to get it removed.

I would try to relax and see what they say now. If they need another look don't panic. Often it is nothing. Just double checking. Try to take it one day at a time. Try not to worry. I am sure it is all okay.
