In a way you present it as gosh awful. But if you read it, and not read your emotions, it actually seems like a lot of good.
One, he did call back. It’s taken seems like about a week. But it was oh so important.
Second, he has a good plan, it seems. He’s not giving up on the Prozac, an anti-depressant that helps with anxiety net says, because he increased it from 60 mg. to 80 mg.
And he’s increased the Buspar (net says anti-anxiety) from 10 mg. once a day to 10 mg. twice a day.
You know, both of those are cause for celebration to me.
You said about the Prozac: “dreading this increase. 80 mg is the max dose of Prozac. I'm not having end of world panic attacks. So I think it's working for that, but I don't know if it's working for the other things.”
So the “Not having end of the world panic attacks. So I think it’s working for that.”
You said in your first post that you were on 60 mg. of Prozac but were still having anxiety attacks. Since you’ve been on Buspar anti-anxiety, starting at 10 mg. 6 weeks ago, you haven’t had any anxiety attacks, so that combination seems to be working.
Since first taking Buspar on 10-7-2020, you said on 10-8, “Did I feel anxiety (the next day), was my brain thinking of 20 random things at the same time, was agitated at all... Can't say I was”
On 10-21, after on Buspar for 2 weeks, you said, “I'm sort of reluctant to stop it (Buspar) completely bc things aren't crazy busy in my brain. I'm sort of feeling... indifferent to anxieties or stressors. I know they are there and I know normally I'd be getting upset but now I'm just sort of like... Oh well, let's see how this pans out.”
On 11-8, “I'm not sure how I'm doing. My anxiety is... A low but audible roar this past week.”
So, now, on 11-20, you said the psychiatrist just called you today and wants you to increase the Prozac from 60 to 80 mg., and the Buspar from 10 mg. a day to 20 mg. a day.
So, I think this sounds good. The things that are working for you he wants you to increase. Your panic attacks are not there since you added the Buspar to the Prozac, and the anxiety is a “low but audible roar this past week.”
So, you’re getting closer to where you want to be. I may have read that it’s the combination of those two medicines that can help.
You said, “Is me seeking medication relief the lazy way out of this? Should I be more dependent on ME controlling my brain?”
No. You’re doing just the right thing, in my view. Your doctor is just encouraging you to take the medicine so you will be less cranky and you will be easier to get along with. We don’t want to drive people away.
You responded to your doctor’s reply in your latest post, “What?!? What kind of answer is that?!? I don't understand. I don't even understand myself lately, I guess.”
Minipuff, we are so proud of you and your doctor.
