Loratidine for calming effect

Hi,
I’m from the UC forum,
I take this generic loratidine and it helps a lot with my anxiety. It’s a allergy med.
I’ve been on lexapro lately and although it works just 2.5 it makes me real tired! So I got off it.
I cut a tiny lexapro 5mg pill in half. I’m must be super sensitive to meds like this because cut I cut .25 of Xanax in half and I sleep like a baby.
I could take lexapro later in the day but will it continue to work until my next dose 24 hours later? Are these24 hour meds?
Which is better for my body loratidine or lexapro?
I use any calming thing b/c my brain won’t shut off, every little noise in the night I jump.my heart races. I know when I feel anxiety and when the calmness comes. Songs don’t get stuck in my head for 24 hours, no worrying , not worried for other people, etc....
Also the CALM supplement magnesium at night is amazing, I use this too.

many meds can be toxic if cut, halved etc. HT

ask your pharmacist, they can become toxic to our system. Some of them when cut. I am not a pharmacist or medical expert, however just making the point that some medications are dangerous to cut. More so extended release medications. This has been the advice from years of being a patient with an established psychiatrist and being on the med merry go round for 20 plus yrs. HT.

Welcome to the anxiety forum.

I have not heard of loratidine so cant comment on that one but I have taken Lexapro and found it to be effective at reducing anxiety, it’s the strongest of the SSRIs and I found it very activating so for me it was best to take first thing in the morning.
