Good Evening,
I am a registered nurse as well as a baccalaureate nursing student, currently studying community health with a focus on mental health. In my studies this semester I have found that many communities in the United States are lacking adequate mental health services and resources. With the addition of the COVID-19 pandemic, I fear that many people may face increased difficulty accessing the already limited mental health care services they need. I am interested in learning more about
your experience with access to mental health care services within your community, as well as how this has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I will be using this information to better care for my future patients.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, did you find that there were enough mental health resources in the community to assist you?
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, have you encountered any difficulty accessing mental healthcare providers?
I appreciate any input and inquiries on this topic.

In my city in the US there’s a good amount of mental health services available, but most competent providers are private pay so it is difficult to afford services unless you’re relatively well off. For those without money, access is much more limited.
Covid has increased demand for mental health services so waiting times can be longer. And it has largely moved to zoom and similar online platforms. But services are still available to those who can afford it.
