I am 39 years old will be 40 in a couple of months and I have noticed that my periods are becoming excessively heavy. I am very worried! I read online heavy bleeding can be a sign of a precancerous condition. I am literally bleeding clots, has anyone experiened this? Does bleeding get heavier as you get older? Please help me I am going to have a panic attack..
Thank you

It's been too long since I've had my periods (I'm 67) so I can't remember if I got heavier as I aged. I'm sure it's fine, but, to put your mind at rest, make an appointment with your gynecologist if it's starting to freak you out.

I agree, check in with your gyn! I don't think it's anything to worry about
, but probably worth double-checking to be sure.

that happened to me in my 40's too. My goodness when my period came it was as if a faucet turned on. When I stepped out of the shower I didn't have time to get a pad between my legs and bled on the floor like a stuck pig! Periods lasted 2 weeks. Yucky clots too- felt like my insides were falling out. I ignored it for a year and when I went for my annual exam it was found I was anemic from losing so much blood. Had fibroids, had them removed and an endometrial ablation and that took care of that. Ask your doctor.

First, make an appointment with your gynecologist. Second, stop researching on the internet as there is a lot of misinformation out there.

LuvMyDAD,
Did you see a gyno? What did they say.
I went through the change kind of early. I remember heavy periods in my 30s after I got my tubes tied. I was on birth control before that and periods were light and short. Which was always nice.
Often our periods will get longer and more frequent before they start spacing out for your change. You are young to be going through that but I was too.
I hope you find out what is going on, please let us know.
Hugs, Karen...
