Mayoclinic.org says:
"A colonoscopy is considered positive if the doctor finds any polyps or abnormal tissue in the colon.
"Most polyps aren't cancerous, but some can be precancerous. Polyps removed during colonoscopy are sent to a laboratory for analysis to determine whether they are cancerous, precancerous or noncancerous."
I've had those procedures, which are good to have and are preventive in nature.
A few years ago, I went to a skin doctor and they took a sample from my forehead and told me to come back in 2 weeks for the results. I worried every day for 2 weeks. They didn't say anything about it. They had forgotten. I had to ask them, "Well, what were the test results?" They said, oh, it turned out OK.
That was a long 2 weeks, so, I have an idea what you are going through. One good thing though is you did a preventive measure.
That same website said most of the time that procedure is not even recommended by doctors until age 50. You're 34 so all of that is in your favor.
You can be thankful your doctor recommended that to you and that the 2nd doctor caught the polyp.
You said, "The nurse who was in the room with the doctor did say it’s a good thing I came in because this could turn into cancer down the line and I saved my life."
I think she's right. Nothing like good quality care. Starting with ourselves.
