With the crying 3 or 4 times today, I told my cold psychiatrist that one time and she said, "Aw, you're just depressed." So, are you depressed? If so. are you taking anything for it?
Webmd.com said about occipital headache:
"The first thing you’ll want to do is to relieve your pain. You can try to:
"Apply heat to your neck.
"Rest in a quiet room.
"Massage tight and painful neck muscles.
"Take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs, like naproxen or ibuprofen.
"If those don’t help, your doctor may prescribe medications for you."
Warm bath might help. I use a heating pad alot for chest pain, and it might help, to the back of the neck.
"Icy-Hot," I've never tried it but I see the ads.
I also use a heating pad to help me sleep. It's like a child's teddy bear. I put a thin, kitchen or small bath towel between me and the heating pad to lessen the heat, which I often put on "1" or low for sleep.
If I can't sleep, I often cut on a light. I take Melatonin sleep aid from the health food, grocery or drug store.
In addition to heat, which expands the blood vessels and rushes nutrients and oxygen to the injured area, I also use a frozen cold pack which I keep in the freezer and they sell at drug stores. Cold reduces the inflamation.
I can alternate heat and cold, with some 15 or so minutes in between. My chio told me to do that with a painful lower back.
Sorry to hear about your mother.
