8-10 drinks per week doesn’t sound unreasonably high to me if you’re in good health. I would address the drinking and the anxiety separately. If you want to drink less alcohol, go ahead and do that. Maybe don’t try to drop to zero but just modest gradual reductions. Drink more water. That’s good for you.
For the anxiety, get therapy. CBT can be very effective. And it’s usually short term.
