Chest pains and low grade fever all the time

... I do in fact live with and manage anxiety (insomnia too lately) on 0.25 mg of Xanax scored nightly (0.13) with a maximum strength Unisom and that seems to work (unless I am on the road and in a bazillion hotels then nothing works)!

My question is this; I have a regular physician that I see for my chronic anemia (6 month week IV treatments) and aside from that I seem to be OK EXCEPT that I have chest pains and run a low grade fever all the time. I run almost daily, do yoga, don't drink, smoke or even drink coffee (decaf and chocolate though). I was told that doctors who know you can't afford expensive tests don't request them and let you go on thinking "you're fine" - now, I don't want to be paraniod, but when I get these pains or the ache in my side or under my arm at this point I don't tell anyone but what if I do have a heart condition? How will I ever know unless I keel over?

Hi Lis and welcome to our group! I would think your regular physician would be able to run the basic tests to check on your heart... EKG, cholesterol test, blood pressure, etc. Mine even offers echocardiograms. I used to see a cardio doc, but I prefer my primary doc, as I don't feel I need a specialist right now. Do you have insurance? If so, you are probably covered for any necessary tests. When I had the echocardiogram done a few months ago, it only cost my co-pay. I'm not sure what could be causing the low grade fever, but this is a good question to ask your doc. That's the best advice I can think of... you might post on the heart forum and get some opinions there as well. Hope you feel better soon (((Hugs))),

Hi Lis and welcome! I had to fill out a questionaire in regards to anxiety symptoms, and fever and chest pains were both listed (and I have experienced both by the way) This was administered by my doctor, so these are both symptoms recognized by the medical community. If it will make you feel better ask your doctor for a "well being chart" for anxiety and depression. You will be surprised at how many physical symptoms are a result of anxiety!
