Doc just prescribed me Amitriptyline to take before bed

Now im more meds, also taking clozapam or whoever you spell it , not to mention a headache med that dont work and a bp med. I want to go off meds and noone seems to care. I don't even know why he prescribed the amitriptline for

Did you mention you were having trouble sleeping or having some depression as well as A/P ??
This is a very opld med once used for everything
Personally I wont take it but thats me I found it did nothing only gave me a hungover feeling and that is one of the many reasons I had already quit drinking lol.......
May I suggesst that YOU ASK why the doc is giving you these meds and why they will not listen to you
They are human like us educated a bit more yes but still human
Too many ppl think ( and them as well ) that Doctor's are Gods but if you stand firm and ask for what you need want and question the tx a good doc will surely comply in my experience anyways

its prescribed for many things

the antidepressant range is usually 150 to 300, thats for depression and/or anxiety

its not unsual to find someone on a much smaller dose for say cronic pain, who thinks they will get the antidepressant effect, which of course, they wont

what do you mean 150-300? and yes he asked if i had depression or anxiety and i said no because i dont as far as i know. Just nervous , bouncing knee up and down, rotating feet over and over but not since i got on the med. but i still rather take something natural or some food to help instead someday

my doctor prescribed amitriptyline for me before bed, and at first it helped me sleep, but i never noticed any other beneficial effects after about a month. i was prescribed it for chronic tension headaches, and can't remember how much i took though.... didn't your doctor tell you WHY he was giving it to you?

Hey sis that was my biggest beef with his doc he doesnt want all these meds yet doc wont listen and gives more

I have heard of 10 mg to 50 mg but I think 300 to 500 ids way outta line IMO
I had it for tension headaches too and doc gave cait 10 mg to cut in half for same reason ......

i thought i already said, for anxiety, nervousness, restless legs . why would he prescribe that for headaches? if its supposed to be taken before bed
