Ativan questions

i had posted recently that I had seen a doc who prescribed several meds after only speaking with me for about a half hour. i did not start any of his meds because i wanted a second opinion. well, it's been a few weeks and i have had some things happen and my wife and daughter have been out of time for a full week and today i almost felt like i was going to completely lose it on the way to work. i was thinking of starting the meds he prescribed because i am desperate, and the zoloft just does not seem to be helping at all anymore. but at the very least i would like to try the ativan to see if it can calm me down enough to function. life rolls on and i have so much to do. anyway, is there a ramp-up period with ativan? can i really expect it to work within 20 or 30 minutes? and does it make you feel like a zombie or really tired? or does it depend on the person? i've never taken a benzo before and i am a little nervous.

My friend has been taking ativan for a while now. When she started she was afraid of the same thing. Not being able to function and feeling like a zombie! Like most medications you have to take it a couple times for your body to adjust and get use to it (the feeling) but it does work quick. My friend had cut her pill (dose) in half in the beginning until she adjusted and that really worked well. Goodluck to you .

I take ativan and I am able to function very well
I would say what Harry says is correct and they do have SUBLINGUAL ativan which is like Nitro it goes under tongue and into bloodstream right quick
I find the regular ativan work quicker if I let it melt as well
I dont think this will hurt you at all and I really believe it will help you to get calmed down
I believe alot of SSRI's need something in a benzo until they start to fully work

Please do go by your docs RX .......if you find it is working ( sure you will ) you I believe will have some better times with the A/P it wont be as stressful IMO and the a/p rate will go down
Are you able to take during the day as well or what is your RX dosage I can take up to 3 per day 1 mg and I weigh about 100 pounds and like I said I still function very well .......It helps with my OCD and when I am alone with "Stinking Thinking"
