one of my cats is sick from the bad pet food

Well the worst happened and the vet called me at work to say one of my two cats is showing signs of kidney failure.  The other one, Lucy, is ok.  She did not eat as much of it as he, Dupree, did.  I had to leave work, bawling of course, and go him him and get him to the animal hospital.  They have him hooked up to an iv and will try to flush his kidneys  They are not sure if they can save him.  He's only two and otherwise healthy so I'm hoping he can fight it.  I'll go visit him tomorrow, the vet is near my work place.  Please say a prayer for all the pets who have been affected by this.  It is heartbreaking.  And if you think your pets ate any of it take them to the vet.

hi bluemeanies sad , i am so sorry to hear of your cat being sick from this horrific thing that is happening to our pets, our loved ones. i will say a prayer for you and everyone out there who are suffering for their pets. i hope and pray that your cat makes it thru this. i have a dog, he has eaten the iams

 can food in december but since has eaten the iams dry food, and i dont know if its a coinsidence but has had diareah and vomiting. it is the dry food. who knows if the dry food is now infected. i am scared to feed him anything. i cant seem to trust the food now.  what is this world coming too.....hope everything turns out well for you...take care and God Bless

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope and pray he beats it. If it's any consolation, I had a dog once that my mom loved so much she couldn't bring herself to let them put him to sleep. He also had kidney failure. He got pretty bad, but then on Thanksgiving when I came home from college I gave him some turkey and he ate! And he didn't stop eating after that. He went from a walking skeleton back to his normal weight by the time Christmas rolled around. That little dog refused to let go and ended up living a normal lifespan for his breed!

So miracles do happen, and it may not come to that. Your cat may respond very well to the treatment he gets. And if there's one thing about veterinary doctors, they do love animals and will do everything they possibly can for him.

I am sure the other will be fine and the sick one will bounce back in no time

I am sorry your kitty is sick...Thats no fun...But he is young maybe he wont have any major probs...and he will bounce back easily...

Oh, so sorry to hear that blue, I will be thinking of you and your lovely little kitty.  I hope he bounces back ok, like michelle suggested.  All my fingers crossed (and my pets paws as well).

I stopped by the vet to visit him this morning. He had pulled the cath out and was not getting the fluids. The vet was just getting there to hook him back up. He was very glad to see me and got up for some kisses and face rubbing. I'm going home at lunch to get his bed and take it in for him once I get off work today. He was lying in the litter box so I'm taking his bed. They really didn't know anything else yet but hopefully they will later today. Thanks for all the concern.
