SO my doc FINALLY tests my thyroid!!!

I guess it suddenly 'dawned' on my doctor to have a thyroid test done on me to see if perhaps my anxiety was due to thyroid...

NINE MONTHS AFTER I START MEDS... how intelligent... wouldn't you want to do that in the beginning?!

and I got the results...

and I already knew what they'd be.

and I was RIGHT!

Normal thyroid.

I'm a normal panic disorder sufferer.

Is there such a thing? LOL

I just thought I'd share that with you all. It was kind of amusing.

I had to make a big effort to get doc to test my thyroid when my anxiety was bad, it was within the normal range, docs often only think of anxiety

at the age of 65, I now think its best to consider that docs have no diagnostic ability at all, the medical system works fine, as long as the patient appreciates that he has to do all the diagnosing himself

Harry, I think you're right that too many doctors are weak when it comes to diagnosing patients. I went through a lot of doctors before anxiety/panic was ever mentioned in my case. I never would've guessed it. A doctor finally thought outside of the box and hit the nail on the head. Later, my regular doctor said that this one had written "possible anxiety/panic" in my chart on my first visit with him. SOME do have the talent/ability/wherewithal to diagnose patients. Others seem very reluctant to think outside of their discipline.
