Klonopin-increased sex drive?

I'm semi-embarrassed to post this but we are all so open with each other here i thought it would be ok...all these meds we talk about i know usually decrease sex drive...but has anyone heard klonopin increasing it?? because i feel for me it has, i can see no other explanation than this new med im on. I did a quick google search and found a couple websites saying it does but the majority of the others says it doesn't.

It is quite possible IMHO as the Klonopin would let your or some of your inhibitions down ya know make you more relaxed and happier with the way you are feeling with and about self
In any case Never be worried or embarrased about any question hun thats what we are all here for right
My CD has lessened mine ......hmmmm maybe time for some Klonopins .....J/K
Like I said I would think it is very possible .....Just my opinion

If it has for you that is good...............go with it. Your right, most info on Klonopin does not find increase in libido a result of use of this drug.
It is good to hear someone on a med that doesn't have all the negative side effects.

heh thank you guys, yes there are worse side effects than this thats for sure...it's just a shame i dont have anyone to share it with :(

I dont either but then again I dont have the increase you have I have the decrease
JUST wishful thinking on my part I guess for that umphhhhh

You very well could be, but as others have mentioned it's most likely psychological. Not like a high, if you will, but you're simply feeling more energetic and less beaten down with anxiety.

Believe me, I'm going through the same thing. For a long time I had the sex drive but, with anxiety disorder and panic attacks nipping at my heals all the time, I was unwilling to deal with a relationship (even if a girl could put up with me, haha). Nowadays I won't say I'm desperately seeking a relationship but I'm definitely open to one. I even sought one out proactively (drove many miles out of my way to see someone I used to know), but I guess that's crashed and burned. Oh well. We'll all get there someday.

hahah im glad im givin you guys a giggle, nothin wrong with that...to make it even funnier, since i take the pill at night right before bed its effect is highest when i get up and go to work...not a good time for an overactive libido!

I know that this thread is old, but I just started on the klonopin .5 mg for anxiety attacks & have noticed the abnormal increase in my sex drive. It may be as you all said, "psychological" condsidering this is my first narcotic, but hey, I'm not complaining.. And neither will my boyfriend! So far it has worked wonders; I have yet to have another attack, which were an everyday battle before the meds.

Welcome to HealingWell. I am glad Klonopin is helping make your life better and no panic attacks. Klonopin is not a narcotic .
Clonazepam ( Klonopin ) is a member of a class of drug known as benzodiazepines.This drug may be used as an antianxiety, for the short-term relief of mild to moderate anxiety.

So I'm glad that I came upon this article, blog, what ever....Forum. There we go. I too have noticed that my sex drive magically has seemed to return to a healthy one. I've been with the love of my life for almost a decade now and sadly we went from having sex multiple times/week, to once/month. Uggh....I know. There were times we went 2 months without making whoopy. Since starting clonazepam I have wanted it multiple times a week again. My lover's 10 years my junior and has truly been grateful for the change. So, here's my nursing thinking of why it might be this way be FOR ME at least. I'm a Registered nurse in FL. I have PTSD and a severe panic disorder. When I'm stressed, the last thing on my mind is a penis. Just keeping it real. We just adopted three kids ages 6,7, and 11 and it was an arduous year long process. They're my nephews from my older brother. (Looong story) Now that I'm on the benzodiazepines I am WAYYY less stressed and therefore I think my sex drive has made a roaring come back. I could be wrong, this is just my opinion, but hey that's what these forums are for, right?!?!? =) Happy Holidays and may everyone's stocking get stuffed....=)
