Getting off Clonazapam

confused  yes I was treated for hepatitis c in 2004 and 05 they got rid of the hepatitis. But still stuck taking clonazapam. Even thou im now only taking a half of half of 1 mill gram pill. Just cannot get to sleep, how long dose this crap stay in your system. If I were you people the only time I would take a anxiety pill is when I really need it. John

You're taking .25 mg how often? And how long have you been at that dose? More information is needed.

Tapering off a benzo correctly is a very, very long process. You may be going too fast.

I too would like to know how much of the drug you are actually taking.  You indicated .25 mg but did not say how often.  Once a day or more?

Klonopin as well as all of the benzos serve their purpose in the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks.  You do not say if you were taking the Klonopin for anxiety or just for sleep.  With a bit more info, we may be able to provide you with better advice.

Now I've been started on Zyprexa my pdoc is lowering the clonazepam down again.

I love the med as it helps but the withdrawal is absolute hell.

Thanks Aussie for sharing. Would your Doc be willing to switch you to a longer acting Benzo and do a slow wean?

Hi stkitt, because I'm on Zyprexa now as well the pdoc wants to cut my nightly 2mgs out but keep the morning 2mgs. Don't worry I'll be making sure it's a slow withdrawal.

I realised last night why i was getting all funny, I was only meant to go down by .25mg this week so I'd cut my 2mg in half for 1mg and then instead of taking 1 and a half .5mgs I was cutting the .5 into a quarters and taking about 1.35mgs all up instead of 1.75mgs. I'm going to go draw myself a diagram of the tablets I need as obviously my brain isn't working to well at m. lol
