Anyone with Gastroparesis who Takes a Benzo?

I have no idea if this will help you or not, but I had lots and lots of stomach problems prior to going on Klonopin, and most of them have dissipated. In fact, for some time gastroparesis was suspected but my emptying exam showed up negative. Benzos are a CNS depressant so it's possible it could worsen your condition, but depending on what caused the gastroparesis it's also possible it could help. You should definitely ask your gastroenterologist about it first.

I'm not sure what "blah" means, but I wouldn't use Klonopin or any other kind of benzodiazepine as a sleep aid if you can help it. Unless your experiencing a lot of anxiety I'd imagine there'd have to be a better option for you.

Thanks for the replies. My gastroparesis was diagnosed earlier this year after a nasty month long stomach virus. I was sick for about six months, then symptoms just went away. I wasn't able to eat like before of course, and I didn't gain the 35 pounds I lost back, but definitely able to maintain weight with no problem at all. I'm experiencing a certain degree of anxiety, which I believe to be the primary reason I'm now not sleeping at night. I'm certainly tired enough, but once I wake up, I can't seem to shut down. Anyone whose had insomnia knows that anxiety and sleeplessness is a vicious circle. Its causing me to not want to eat now, and chronically feel "flu" like symptoms. I just thinks its the result of not sleeping well for a few months, not because i'm having rebound symptoms with stomach or anything else. I am trusting in God and seeking him constantly, my only source of hope. I'd prefer not to take anything, as I don't want to chance harming myself or going on an addictive med thats tricky to come off of.
