Well, I finally did it....

Hi All,   I finally got out into my flower gardens yesterday to start getting them prepared for the winter.  I just need a little more manure and some hay then they will be done.  Before I went outside I got supper all prepared to put in the oven at the appropriate times so I could just have my husband pop them in so I wouldn't have to stop my outside work.   The gardening actually turned out be a familly affair.  My oldest son and his girlfriend had come over because I had invited them over for supper.  I had every intention of doing the garden work in the morning and then paying attention to the supper and kids in the afternoon.  Well, things didn't go as planned.  My daughter had to make a choice the other day for a punishment for something that she had done wrong - either go on the halloween trip with her friends and have two days of some yucky cleaning or just not go on the trip and that would have been the punishment.  As I thought she would do, she went on the trip.  So yesterday morning was spent showing her what was to be cleaned, I ended up going through some things and throwing out things, etc.  So I eventually got the pork roast and potatoes prepared and then went out side to work.  My younger son and my son's girlfriend came outside with me.  As I thought he would, my oldest stayed inside with my husband.  With the help of those two we got one garden completely weeded (there wasn't a whole lot) and everything cut back.  By this time I was getting pretty tired and it just so happened that my oldest came out so I put him to work too -he got to spread the manure....hehehe....good job for him.  Then after my daughter finished her work, she came out and I got her involved too.  So with everyone's help, it's almost done.  WooHoo!!!!!   My youngest son also wants a flower garden, so he has dug up the area that he wanted, got it hoed out pretty well.  Yesterday we helped him with putting some peat on it and we will put some manure on it for the winter after we get some more.   My daughter also wants her own area, so I'm putting her in charge of the window boxes and some areas around the walk ways.  They don't need much attention right now, but will in the Spring.   I am so glad they like to garden with me.  Makes it pretty cool.   Wen

I know you have been thinking of doing garden work for a while, so I am glad you were able to get some work done. It's pretty cool how the kids were involved.

Thank you all for you support and encouragment.  It really was cool how all the kids got into it with me.  Over the winter we are going to be picking out flowers that we each want for our areas and see what we come up with.  I'm sure their lists will have to be pared down some, but that's okay - it's fun for me to see them want to do this and me not forcing it on them.  It's also good for them to learn how to do this kind of thing too. Lyn as far as beating this DD, I'm not so sure - I do better to go outside with family than without, but I'm making strides to do more on my own and feel more confident.  Little by little I guess I will get there. A green thumb, I am very impressed with your progress and how it turned into a family affair. I agree with Lyn, you have made huge strides and your will continue by using those babysteps.

Your celebrating the good days and putting your efforts into talking about the positive things in your life.

You are obviously a very caring and loving Mother and wive. By the way, just what is a pork roast..............lol.

There is just me and my husband and with his Crohn's he does not eat any roasts.  Mostly ground meats at our house.
