Does anyone have any simple recommendations (i.e. rewards) to give yourself to keep motivated?  I sometimes get a bit overwhelmed when I'm faced with a large task (i.e. cleaning my apartment on the weekend) and find that if I break it down into smaller tasks I can get a better handle on it.  But, I don't always finish all of those tasks, because there's so many and I end up beating myself up, not getting anything done and feeling even more anxious.  So, I'm thinking if I take each one at a time and give myself a reward and then move on to the next one, it might work!  What has worked well for others?  Thanks in advance!

I try to do "ONE THING" each day---and then I reward myself with different things! One day may be vacuuming the downstairs, next day doing laundry (a few loads---not the entire house), the next day may be cleaning the bathroom, etc... I don't really "reward" myself---except I will take a break afterwards---maybe watch some t.v. (soaps---b/c they make me laugh)---or reality t.v. or HGTV----no news---where all they talk about is bad stuff!

Good luck---just take baby steps when trying to get stuff done---the dust bunnies will always be there.

Thanks so much Hope! I just finished one room, so now I'm "rewarding" myself with having a nice healthy lunch! :) I figure I'll have more energy and motivate to tackle the other rooms after that! Thanks again! :)

My therapist also recommended a really helpful website that provides folks with inspiration and simple steps to keep up with housework. It can be found at www.flylady.com. It's really cute and free.

Boy that is a tough one, I have no motivation to clean anymore.  I think what helps me most is doing it with someone else, like my granddaughter came by today and we did cupboards.

I liked the Fly Lady idea, very cute.  I may have to try that.

Now if I could get Fly Lady to cook my lunch it would be even better.
