Tammy--how's the Effexor comin' along?

I am thinking of starting it on Sunday---when I tell people (who I trust--and they are experiencing anxiety issues as well) that I am going to take Effexor---they give me a 'wide-eyed' look-----and they usually have stories about the 'side effects'----not good for them, I guess!

So, that doesn't make me feel so good about it!  I get to take klonopin with it---but, I'm scared........

I just wanted to see what you think about it Tammy (or anyone else)----and what dose are you at now.  I will be starting at 37.5 mg for 2 weeks, then go up to 75 mg......I refuse to go above 75 mg---and if it isn't working by the time I get to 75 mg----then, oh well! 

Hope it's going well for you Tammy!  I need all of the encouragement I can get at this point............ :-)

Hey there Laurel...and thanks for asking!!! I was actually just going to say a little something about my progress today, and you are a step ahead of me!!! I am doing great on 75 mg of Effexor XR, along with .5 mg of Klonopin, which I take the Klonopin 2 times daily. Don't be scared of Klonopin, I find it to be wonderful! I am a bit more tired than usual still, which I told my pdoc about , and she said it will begin to pass, and I should be fine. Other than that, I am ME again! I took a one hour car drive to visit my grandparents grave...which I couldn't even have done last month. So, that is great, adn I truly give the credit to the Effexor and Klonopin combo! I have no other bad side effects...Other than the tiredness. The first few days, I had a bit of and upset stomach, but that quickly passed. I look forward to you starting it, and I feel you too, will do well. I look forward to hearing about your jouney! If you have any other questions or thoughts about this, let me know! thanks Tammy. I keep trying to tell myself that it will work for me---kind of have a 'positive outlook' before I take it--I keep thinking if I think "negative thoughts" beforehand, then it will be a bad experience....... "mind over matter"---LOL!

If it is a bad experience anyway--then, I will give it a couple of weeks---and take Klonopin----and go from there!

I am glad it's going so well for you!!!! I am sure I will be posting after I start taking it---so, look for the many ?????s I will have!

how much does it cost, and is it better than lexapro, i am paying almost 100$ a month on lexapro, is effexor have any bad effects. just wondering

Machelle... I am not sure how much it costs...I was also paying almost a hundred a month for Lexapro. I am now working through my county getting help with meds, and for 3 months, I am not paying for anything...so I am not sure the cost of Effexor. Effexor, like any med will have its side effects, but they vary from person to person. I was scared of Effexor, but now that I am on it, I feel a lot better, and for me, at least, it is better than the Lexapro. You can call your pharmasist, and ask how much a supply of Effexor XR would be, just to get a ball park figure. It would also be a good idea to chat with your doctor, and see if he or she thinks it is good for your condition. I have GAD, panic attacks, OCD, and mild depression. The Effexor XR and Klonopin combo work great on everything except the OCD, which is minor to me, so I am not even bothered by that. Let me know what you find out about prices and stuff.
