Effexor

Just wanted to drop in, I havent posted for ages as I was dealing with some acute anxiety. Well finally was able to talk to my doc and 7 weeks ago he put me on Effexor. So far its been great. Small dose 37.5mg, but I have responded very well to it and its really taken the edge off. Also I knoe some people have had issues with side effects, all I had was some sleepiness and headaches for the first couple of weeks, but nothing now. I am so happy I fell so much better. So despite the bad press Effexor gets, its worth a try and it worked for me.

I think for every person it works differently. I started to have panic attacks at night (didn't have them for 4-5 years already) and this is first time when I started taking meds on daily basis. Dr prescribed me Effexor in same smallest dose as you. At first it seamed to be working, my panic attacks stopped, but then I started having weird side effects, I had horrible realistic nightmares, then my sex drive went down to "0" . After 2 month I started to have my panic attacks again - because of nightmares, but Dr. told me to continue and I should feel "better and better" as he said. But nothing better came up, I started to shutting down the dose, open capsule per half, then per quarter. Now I'm on terrible wirthdrawal, my head is swinging , weird feeling, nausea.. and these nightmares, don't know when they be gone - actually that's the reason why I'm here - suggestion for calm sleep. What can I say, I had horrible experience with Effexor and when I typed in Google "taking off Effexor" I've read so many posters about that I just hope that it will work well for you. But if you will start feel weird or have these dreams - just a notice, they are not going away. Also, I know one person, whos wife on Effexor for 10 years already and I'm thinking, why is that? Why there is no treatment? It seams like this is very expensive "supplement" since you have to take for years and years. I hope you will feel better and will get off any meds. Good luck.

Thank you all for the input. I appreciate it very much. I know that different meds affect people in various ways, and I am just glad that I got lucky on my first try ;>) I did read a lot of negative things about Effexor initially, and I am sure that other meds also have bad press, but as I am on Effexor, thats the one I focused on.
