I don't like to go to the doctor either. I hate to waste their time. :-) I've learned though that it's better to go earlier rather than later. There's no need to suffer unnecessarily....
Yes, hooray that it's not lupus. Rest and get better....
Hi UA, So sorry for your mom. Don't panic because as Barbara Lee said, it's different in each person. I was diagnosed 25 years ago and have had only a few bad episodes. When I first was diagnosed at...
Hi Jennifer, I've had lupus for 25 years and I've found that it's really important to take part in treating my symptoms. Sometimes docs want to be too aggressive if they don't know you well. With my...
Thanks for your reply! I suggested to all the docs who saw me during that time that the thyroid issue could have caused them but they didn't agree. Funny thing now is that I've been on thyroid meds...
Mine are very hard, raised bumps about the size of a chick pea or smaller. Some have a dimple in them and are dark in color. They seem to get a little flatter as the months go on....
Hi Everyone, I've had a lupus for over 24 years now and aside from a few really bad flares, it's been well controlled with plaquenil, and adjusting my lifestyle to be more healthy. In the last seven...
Sometimes it takes several months to diagnose as lupus exhibits differently with each individual. I didn't have any tremors for the troubles with the fingertips. That sounds like Reynauds syndrome....
Daphne--Congratulations on your successes! It's good to hear about people managing their lupus successfully. I have been exercising for many years (even before diagnosis 20+ years ago) but this year...
I too can scratch myself into hives, especially when I exercise. The insides of my elbows, neck and torso can get inflamed but usually Aveeno or hydrocortizone cream can settle it quickly....
Since you are so new to lupus, it will take awhile to see how it exhibits itself in you. Certainly check with the dr. to see if it's an allergy to the meds but I find I can get hives very easily....
I don't like to get it and often don't. When the swine flu was more prevalent, I was really nervous so I did get it. I didn't have any bad reactions or anything but I don't really get "regular"...
Lupus can be manageable. I've had it for 20 years. I've been lucky and only get flares about once a year, if that. I've learned to pay close attention to how I feel, take my meds (plaquenil) and get...
I agree with the previous responses. Flushed cheeks that feel warm. Some say that I look the healthiest when I feel the worst. Good luck with diagnosis and treatment....
Hi Zuke, Over the last 20 years since I've been diagnosed with Lupus, I've been fairly lucky to have a mild form. If I listen to my body, take my meds (plaquenil) and get my sleep, I've been able to...
Hi Lynnwood, Thanks for your reply and experience. Congratulations on your improvement! It must have been such a relief to get off the meds. In what way was your brain effected? What were your...
Hi Everyone, I've been reading for a few weeks and just signed up. I'm amazed at what some of you have been living with. I've had a pretty mild case of lupus for about 20 years. It's been controlled...
