Interesting... I went to see a new urologist/specialist yesterday and he recommended one of these Virtue brand slings (which seem to be a better design than the AdVance brand sling). I'm scheduled to...
Update: I spoke with the nurse @ the urologist on 9/16. She suggested I cut the dosage in half to 0.25 cc's - I suggested 0.10cc's and we agreed on that as a starting point. I should go up by 0.10...
Thanks everyone. I'm off to the pharmacy to get some real Sudafed's and then I'll be running an experiment. I figure I'll do this test during the day (i.e. office hours). That way, if things don't go...
So, at 55 years of age, I sacrificed my ability to have erections, wearing diapers, and basically being very frustrated as a man, for what? To live to see 65. I'm in the same boat as you and many...
Thanks everyone. To be clear: This urologist and I have no history. One office visit - that's it. This guy comes highly recommended by Moffitt as an ED specialist and has a 5 month wait list. The...
As my sig indicates, I had prostate surgery in January. I've been on the various pills at max dosage since then with little to no effect. I've been using a vacuum pump - it works, sort of. Ideal it's...
Ditto all of the above... Go see a Dr. about it. Now is good. I had my prostate removed and a hernia repaired - little to no pain after. Your pain does not sound "normal" to me....
Thanks. You have a Cunningham Clamp - made by Bard. My local shop charged $70. Vitality is $35. Ouch. I've made the aforementioned mods, but if you look at that Squeezer widget its claim to fame is...
I was recently prescribed a Cunningham Clamp to help with incontinence. While not exactly "comfortable", it isn't bad and it seems to work very well at stopping the leaking. Of course, after I bought...
I'M A ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
I forgot to mention.... Another possible reason I'm wigged is that one of my sisters died last month of breast cancer. Effing cancer.... If I take the xanax I sleep most of the day. If I don't I'm...
Thanks everyone. The "problem" I'm having is not unique to me... From the start of this process everyone told me "oh, you're going to be fine" and at every step along this path everyone has been...
I had blood work for my first post-op PSA test last Wednesday. The weird part is that before Wednesday I was emotionally fine, but since then I've been a basket of effing nerves. Results on 5/13 @...
Others have offered eloquent descriptions of the catheter.... My own experience, and far less eloquent: it was a effing nightmare. I hated it. Hurt like hell the whole time it was in. It's been out...
OK, better? :-) I sure wish the old posts would reflect updated sig's.... Yes, I can read it also, but it is very light and hard to read. /community/emoticons/shocked.gif Paul[/quote]...
Congrats!...
Best of luck today David......
Who did you see in Tampa?...
My catheter experience was a freaking nightmare. Hurt like hell the whole time it was in. Maybe because it was a #20, but it had me grounded the entire time it was in. The nurse told me I could use...
Tony, Open surgery? Really? Ouch. I'm 2.5 weeks out from robotic and doing very well. Very little to no soreness at the surgery sites (holes). My perineum area is still a little sore, but that's...
I had surgery ~2.5 weeks ago, catheter came out last Wednesday (4 days ago). As I presume is normal, I have little to no bladder control. I'm going through 10 to 12 pads a day at this time. How does...
I can't imagine wanting to forget this experience years down the road. I plan on being here 30 years from now and I rather like the idea of having a permanent reminder of this experience. As I...
I never thought I'd want a tattoo, but I never thought I get cancer either. Having won the first round with cancer I feel compelled to get a tat. But what and where? Something simple like a blue...
The body of my sig is in HTML gray. I can change it, but I suspect your contrast setting is amiss if you can't see my sig now......
What's wrong with my Aeron chair post? They are fabulous chairs and IMHO required for sitting post-op....
Dr. Pow-Sang at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa. You can't do better. See my sig for links....
Tudpock, I think that is an incorrect interpretation of Purgatory's remark. You don't "know for sure" that you're 100% cancer free, but, you do know with 100% certainty to what extent was the cancer....
I had a 16 core biopsy and was graded T1a. After surgery they ran it through pathology and it was re-graded to T2c. That's a significant difference in my book......
Les.... OHHHHHHH! OK, I didn't know that antigen could be produced by something other than the prostate. Thanks....
Not in Tx, but worth the trip: Dr. Pow-Sang at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Link: Dr. Pow-Sang ...
Right, but that's my confusion. If I do not have a prostate, how can my non existent prostate produce any antigen to test for? From here: National Cancer Institute Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is...
I keep forgetting to ask my doc.... How can I have a PSA value if I've had my prostate removed? This antigen they're testing for is produced by the prostate, and now I don't have a prostate. Even if...
I got my (#20) catheter out yesterday! Hoooray ! Pathology upgraded me from a Gleason 6, T1a to a Gleason 7 (3+4), T2c. That was a bit sobbering, but I do recognize that it's not that uncommon. The...
St. Pete? Well, get this... When I say "astro" camping what I mean is that me and about a dozen other like minded loonies drag our travel trailers/RV/tents/whatever out once a month at New Moon,...
divo: Just poking fun. I married a Buckeye! She's from the Bay Village area. Purgatory: We were darn near neighbors! I grew up in Plant City - just south of Zephyrhills. I also do a lot of astro...
Now wait a sec... You're not allowed to "Go Bucks" and have hip replacement surgery in Gainesville! ;-) Psst: What is "AUS"? cheers, beers & yes, I'm a Gator dad! Chris...
It's da Vinci . Like the dude from old... Actually, you referred to it, and yes, that is the correct name but you did not use that acronym so I tried to avoid further confusion. :-) cheers & beers,...
Hey folks, if you need an excuse to buy one of these, having PC a great excuse! I have three of these creatures in my home office (bought six years ago). Since my procedure (1/22/09), it's the only...
Scott, RRP is Radical Retropubic Prostatectomy. The daVinci procedure is a robotic assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy (vs standard LRP). I'm sure you already know this, but wanted to clear...
jbm, I'm a recent daVinci patient (1/22/09). I get the pathology (and catheter out) tomorrow morning. I've had no pain or other issues with the surgery and highly recommend it to anyone considering...
Here's hoping you're a big fat ZERO! cheers & beers, Chris...
Tony, I'm in Brandon - just outside of Tampa. I venture down to Venice a few times a year to dive for shark teeth. Scuba is one sport where a little leaking isn't a big deal. Warms you up in fact. :)...
old67, I was a basket case leading up to my surgery (1/22/09). My doc gave me a Xanax script that helped tremendously. Everyone is different - don't read too much into any one message here... Get one...
Call your doc and get some Xanax - it's much better than the other two meds you listed for this condition... Really - get some Xanax. It'll help tremendously (it's for treating anxiety, which is what...
Don't leave Moffitt off your short list... First class operation. Cancer is all Moffitt does. My doc was Pow-Sang - he's the div chief and you'll be hard pressed to find a better doctor (or one with...
vs1vs2, I know what you mean about the 15 year thing... I'm 47 and can't help but want to scream "NOT FAIR"!!!! Something to consider: While I was in the hospital, the guy in the room left of me was...
Update: Robotic (da Vinci) LRP was performed 1/22/09 by Dr. Pow-Sang at Moffitt Cancer Center here in Tampa, FL. Surgery went well, doc said he was able to save 100% of the "veil" and sphincter....
I had my first, and last, biopsy Sept/08. They took 16 samples. Here's my blog entry for that experience: I get on the table and attempt to position myself in the manner instructed. They move me...
Tony, Yes, I had the nerve sparing robotic (da Vinci) procedure. He saved 100% of the "veil" and sphincter. I don't recall the exact number he's performed, but it's in the thousands. My procedure was...
I had a robotic (da Vinci) prostatectomy on 1/22/2009 at Moffitt. My doctor was Dr. Pow-Sang. He's the Division Chief of the Genitourinary Oncology department. There are not enough words in any...
