Anybody have anemia after IMRT?...
I didnt have any problems like that with my 44 days. Just talk to your onco & see what they say....
Time to celebrate!!...
Just had my 2nd blood draw post IMRT from last January. Psa is 0.1 & testosterone is 275. Still get tired somedays but a nap fixes that. Getting out a couple days a week to hunt & fish....
Try Good RX to see if they have a coupon the will help with the cost....
You've certainly had the bad luck David. We're all hoping for the best for you....
I got my Trelstar injection late OCT 2017. The RO said it was a 6 month injection, whatever that means. No additional injections planned at this time....
Nothing to add to the great comments above. I finished IMRT in Jan 2018. No major s/e's during treatment. No bowel issues but had some urgency. Flowmax will help that. Still dealing with hot flashes...
Wow. 138 views & only 1 reply. I could get better support standing on the street corner. Thanks everyone!!!...
Got my blood work done last week. 1st one after IMRT that ended late Jan 2018. PSA was <0.1, testosterone was <3.0. Concerned about the testosterone. Is that a normal reading for where I'm at? Still...
As I was making my decision on what treatment I wanted, I found that knowing the cost of radiation is next to impossible to get. Not knowing didn't effect my decision, it was just something I wanted...
Congrats!!!...
Pyridium is what I use. Walmart has the cheapest otc kind....
Congrats!!...
I'm done, I'm done, I'm done. Stick a fork in me, I'm done! Today was day 44 of my IMRT. Glad it's over. Still having hot flashes but less frequent & less intense. Still tired all the time but I...
How far into your treatment did you experience burning with urination? How far into your treatment did you experience incontinence?...
My treatment plan calls for 79gy's....
Here's a brief report of my IMRT prostate cancer treatment after 22 of 44 days. I started (14) days of Casodex on 9-20-17 followed by a 6 month injection of Trelstar on 9-27-17. Hot flashes began...
Thanks David for all you've done for all of us. Wish you the best....
I'd say start with medicare.gov website. It's gonna take a lot of diggin' to find out what's best for you. Just like PCa. If you can budget for the expensive supplement that would be great, but I...
I'll be having IMRT, 42-44 sessions....
After what seems like a year of indecision, actually just a couple weeks, about what treatment to choose, today I did it. ADT & RT for me. It seemed like I'd change my mind every day about which way...
Is it more common to be on HT prior to, or concurrent with IMRT?...
Yes my insurance will cover it, most of it anyway. I almost hung up on the financial navigator when she told me "at least you'll have met your annual out of pocket maximum"!! That's not my goal, to...
Not looking for the cheapest way out. Just venting over the cost difference & the frustration of dealing with people at my r/o supposedly in the know about everything "except" what's it gonna cost....
Anybody care to share what their Medicare Advantage plan cost you out of pocket for IMRT. Just talked to the financial navigator at the hospital who said she talked to my insurance company. My...
Why can't you get SBRT? I've been told sbrt is for low risk. I'm now intermediate. Or at least hypofractionated IMRT? Is that something that would be discussed on a 1st visit w/ ro? I suppose Alvaro...
I met with the r/o yesterday. Found out he specializes in IMRT & SBRT. He took a lot of time explaining the IMRT process which included 6 months of HT. Said that was my only option with him. I asked...
And I'm not on it any more. After a rising psa I had an MRI in July & 18 core biopsy 2 weeks ago. Not good news. 6 cores positive, 5 at 3+4, & 1 at 4+3. So one journey ends & another begins. Meet...
I haven't had a biopsy in quite a while. I am sure my uro (and me too) will want one done....
Just psa. My uro may order more when I see him....
Just got my latest psa results back & it's not what I had hoped for. I started AS just over 8 years ago & at that time decided if/when treatment was ever needed I would choose surgery. But the more I...
I remember when I went to my 1st support group meeting. Everybody gave their name & current status. When it came my turn, I said my name's Harley & I'm on AS. Every head turned & looked at me like I...
It's coming up on 7 years of AS for me. Still see my uro annually & psa 2x a year. Thanks to HW for all the info to make that initial decision....
Glad to hear your good news. I'm in year 6 of AS. Without this forum I would have never known what AS even was. My 1st uro never mentioned it, it was his opinion that the quicker it comes out the...
It's been 6 years of AS for me. Still comfortable with my decision. Thanks Healingwell for helping me make that decision....
It was the 1.79 to 2.54 that caused my primary care dr to send me to the uro at age 60. Being totally uneducated, I didn't object to the biopsy. Wish now that I had known more before having it done....
Hi Geetarman, I'm guessing your uro freaked at the velocity of your 2.85 result. I've been on AS now for 5 years. PSA continues to rise slowly but my uro says not to worry. PSA of 10 or positive DRE...
Mickey, I've been on AS for several years now. I used to think about PC a lot but that only wore me down mentally. Now the only time I really worry is just before my semiannual PSA test. If AS is...
I remember when I was first Dx. My Uro laid out all the options, AS wasn't one of them. He then asked if I wanted to meet with the surgeon within the group & I said yes. Before the meeting with the...
Worryroch, I got your notice about the books. Click the email box at the left under my name to contact me. I'll get the books out to you right away. You'll probably find yourself here on a daily...
Worryroch, The books are yours, friend. I've turned on the email option in my profile now so you can email me directly. Or if you'll turn yours on I'll contact you. I look forward to hearing from you....
Bump...
BUMP...
Both books are still available....
Raddad, Thanks for your generous offer. David, I'm doing well. PSA last week was 2.6 as it was in 9-11. Doc says OK to stay on AS. I don't know why my profile isn't showing up in the post. Any ideas?...
Several years ago, shortly after my Dx, Purgatory offered (2) free books thru this forum. Thanks David for your generosity. I'm passing them on now, at David's request, to one or more persons who...
Minimum of 3 days prior....
tpmgem, Crazy? I'd say yes if your intentions are to totally ignore the fact that you have cancer. If you're talking about regular checkups, PSA & DRE, with your uro, then you're not. I've been...
Casey, You're right on my stats, 1st biopsy 2 yrs ago, 2nd just over a year ago. Thanks everyone for your kind words. I don't post a lot because I don't have a lot I can share with most of you. But I...
