I can't thank you all enough for your responses....I've spoken to him about it and he has no problem at all getting the PSA test, so that's what we'll do. Hopefully this one (his baseline) will be...
Thanks for that info davidg....I have some convincing to do!!...
So, my husband is 47...he has never had a DRE or PSA level done. He also has no symptoms of any kind, but as his wife, I'm just wondering (well, and because my dad has PCa). I know there have been...
So, knowing what you know now about yourself and your situation, at what age would you have a prostate exam or PSA or both? Or, wouldn't you?...
Sonny, I emailed you!! Thanks for getting in touch...I appreciate it!...
Wanted to give you an update. Dad is at Mayo. So far today, he has had an MRI, and with the terrible weather and cancellations, he had the C-11 Choline as well. He is currently waiting to see Dr....
I emailed you Marie!! Thanks for responding and giving me all you did. :)...
Awesome information!! I just emailed my parents the link....thank you SO very much!!...
Hey Melg....read that thread, thanks for linking me!! I can see one thing and I'll be the first to admit, I don't know a lot about any of this....it appears that there is a C-11 Choline and a C-11...
Can Sonny possibly get onto this thread? Anybody know how to reach him?...
Thanks Mel! Yes, I would have to agree....the little research I've done and he's done, that seems to be the "go to" guy for this. I really hope he has some answers for my dad...it's just so...
Thanks David...I assume you're talking about Sonny3...I tried to do a selective search but can't find that particular C-11 thread, so hopefully he'll see this and respond and link me to that. Thanks...
I'm the daughter, my dad's PSA is creeping. Long story short: PSA elevated and biopsy proved cancer. Had prostate removed about 3 years ago. All well until last summer, PSA moved upward; mind you, I...
I know it won't cure anyone, I just was hopeful that this would be enough to put him into remission and he could just be on Lialda and move along normally, if there is such a thing....I guess only...
You're right soystud, I didn't explain myself....originally they were going to hospitalize him and watch his progress (I believe Humira or Remicade was in the works) but we tried this taper instead....
He is taking Lialda 2.4 mg daily along with a potent probiotic, and he also takes Strattera 60 mg daily (nothing to do with UC, obviously). He has been on Lialda since the colonoscopy in September....
Hi all, haven't posted in awhile. The 18-y/o DS has been on a slow taper of prednisone for awhile now. Originally he was on 40 mg, dropped to 30 and got to 20 mg, all too fast apparently as he was...
You're right ibdisthepits....it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. I'm just happy for him right now because I know that this prednisone 40 mg did the trick (well, he went from bloody and...
Thanks Pluot...I appreciate everyone's opinion, including yours! He is taking this like a real trooper with very rare complaints. I commend him for that. There aren't a lot of kids who would tolerate...
Well, his visit went well in my mind. I didn't convince him of doing it, but he has decided to do prednisone again. I indicated that I thought we tapered too fast and he agreed, and was very...
Hi Orchids....no, he didn't say probiotics. Matter of fact, when I originally switched GI's because the first one shot down probiotics and changing his diet, the 2nd one said that yes, both of those...
Can anyone explain what biologics are? Started 40 mg of prednisone on either 10/4 or 10/11 and it worked very well. Started the taper back on 10/27 to 30 mg, 11/3 to 20 mg, then back up today to 40...
Hey Orchids, thanks for asking! I haven't been on here for a bit....things were going fine once 40 mg of prednisone was on board. Sadly, with the taper to 30 mg, about midway through that week, he...
Thanks Sierra...I appreciate it! I need to keep doing my research...I think by now that the GI thinks something should have taken hold and it hasn't. His nurse said to have him stop the Lialda, but...
Hi garylouisville...I believe his antibiotics were Keflex and Bactrim DS together. He has not been on really high dose probiotics, no....I tried Florastor back in July which I thought right away...
I can relate...my senior boy, diagnosed as well. You can read on my thread...do a search for "17-y/o" and you'll find it... I'm so frustrated...new GI wants to DC Lialda 3.6 mg and see him tomorrow...
Well, saw new GI last week on Thursday and started him on 40 mg of prednisone daily. I thought at first this helped him, but he's back to his usual...doctor wants to see him tomorrow and take a look...
Interestingly fruitgirl, I'm in the process of working on another appointment with a DIFFERENT GI as we speak. I do medical transcription for a living, have for 20 years, so I have a [i]fairly decent...
Thanks for your support...I feel for him, I really do. Senior year...I did get it into a 504, so that's all taken care of. I do think that he, like us, felt like once the colonoscopy was over and he...
Hi Orchids787....path report said chronic inflammation of the colon with mild activity, C-Diff negative. To me, that says no ulcerative....however, the colonoscopy report says UC and that is where he...
Well, Lialda doesn't seem to be helping....he started it on 9/17 with 2 pills, 2.4 g. By Thursday, he had graduated to 3, and this hasn't touched his diarrhea so far. He seems to be down in the dumps...
Okay, so I'm confused...GI office called and said, "Chronic inflammation of the colon with mild activity." C-diff negative. Help me out?...
@Orchids787, I wasn't sure if they were looking for Crohn's or if they were looking for colon cancer. I'll go with your Crohn's! You're right....focus on the now, now on the past. Thanks for that!...
Isn't that the truth Orchids787? You're absolutely right....I'm a college graduate, I do medical transcription for a living, and for whatever reason, I failed to give him probiotics when he took...
Thanks for your posts, AbigailRose....this forum has been awesome. I'm gathering more and more info, which is what my goal was. DS has no side effects from the Lialda so far, other than that post...
@InSoFla, I emailed you....
Yes, I sure did...I gave the representative both names. I may try again tomorrow and probably will get someone different, but I'll ask again. Thanks for the tip on the liquid D...I'll get right on...
Thanks for the post BabeintheWoods. I agree...we, too, will find what works for him and what doesn't. I believe that the Paleo and SCD would be good guidelines for me as his mother, so I know and am...
Got a big NO from insurance on VSL #3. Guess I'll be hooking up with that on the internet somehow....
I haven't called, no. I'll be checking though. Obviously, no amount of money will deter me from having him try it. Our flex pay ran out about a month ago, so everything from then and on out will be...
Wow, InSoFla...checked into these from just the local WalMart Pharmacy? $146.77 for 20 packets, $60.34 for 60 capsules is what she told me...yikes on the sachets!! I may be using the link you...
Thanks lemonhead...I think dairy might be a trigger (which will suck for him because he's a HUGE milk drinker, HUGE), but since he hasn't had ANY control for 4 months, it's hard to actually say. I...
InSoFla, I'm impressed...you have a wealth of knowledge and I've printed out all your posts so I have reference. I appreciate it, a LOT! I found a grass fed drop-off about 45 miles from me....not...
Thanks for the clarification. I've never had a colonoscopy before and this was his 1st on Monday....I'm sure he would have trouble snapping out of this and having normal BM's because of the procedure...
Thanks so much scifigal2k....I really appreciate your help! You're not the first person to mention the VSL #3, so I may have to look into that. I just got him the GI Monitor app for his phone. I...
I've heard that too, Sheri....I think that if we go the route of probiotics, etc., that we'll need to be REALLY patient. After all, he's had this problem for a good 4 months. We can't expect...
Just one more thing....the Paleo diet...is this a book or something?...
Thanks garylouisville...I think the c-diff test will also be done with these biopsies. I saw that on his report, that there must have been stool there to test? Something like that...thanks for your...
Oh, and one more thing: Saw the surgeon today who said he'd really like to see him on an anti-inflammatory for his finger, which I expressed was going to be a problem because of this new finding of...
Awesome InSoFla...I'll check out your link for your protocol. I'll also try and figure out what this LDN is and check into VSL. Thanks for your tips. I do want to say one thing....I am not...
