I've had my take down a little under a year and a half ago and i still struggle with going too often. Most of it has to do with gas, in constantly feeling gassy and there's nothing I've been able to...
Hello, It's actually been a long time since I've been on here. I had my first step (of three) for my jpouch almost 2 years ago to the day. My take down was the following September so that 2 year...
Wow you've had quite a few great responses, but I figured I'll throw in my experience as well. So I highly doubt any skin irritation around the aroma site will interfere with the take down, I had a...
I've had my pouch for a little over 5 months and I personally haven't had any issues with structures or obstructions. I do get pain and stuff down by the connection and things do bother my pouch...
So Ive had my jpouch for a little over 5 months now and I'm a little over a year since my colectomy. I'm interested in how this pain can be described? The reason I ask is because ever since my...
Yea sounds like a round of antibiotics will do the trick. I'm 3 months post op and felt fine then had similar issues and for a couple weeks chalked it up to healing or diet then my surgeon gave me...
Don't even sweat it, this is nothing compared to what you've gone through. It's nothing but a short vacation from work. Good luck!...
I also had a leak check but unlike ByeByeUC, mine was an absolutely terrible experience. They went in rectally and basically inserted a tube and then lifted a bag full of the solution. The fluid...
Hmm, thanks for the response. I'm going to just take some Benadryl before bed and just drink some tea with honey and lemon tonight and see how that goes. My wife has been taking apple cider vinegar...
So for the past few days I've had a cold with the whole congestion a, runny nose, coughing and sore throat...just your typical winter ordeal nothing crazy. But as the symptoms started to worse. I...
I'm 3 months post op and I felt like that when I had pouchitis. I go 3-4 times per day and just because of how my schedule works and what-not. I have no issues holding it for as long as needed. The...
So I'm happy to report that the pouch is working great and everything is good on that front. I started getting the dull ache/pain in my left abdomen after my first surgery and it would be faint and...
Wow ks that's one hell of a ride there. Things are much better even 24 hours into the treatment. However my bm frequency is really low, I hope I'm not getting constipated or something. I'll keep...
So for the past several weeks I've been having tons of pain when I would empty my jpouch. I thought it was mostly due to only being 2 months post op but then the other day I noticed an odor. I...
Hey All, So most of you have seen me on these forums for the past couple of years and I've documented my journey through UC and now as I deal with the j-pouch. Anyways, I was watching the...
Pluot - yea, come to think of it dinner is my biggest meal and the whole spastic pouch things seems like a good assessment, everytime I eat within 20 minues I start feeling like I need to go. I also...
I do try to eat different things. Even though I have that frequency/pain nightly anyways, if I eat something that doesn't agree with me yet it makes that whole episode that much worse. So I will roll...
So it's been about 5 weeks since my takedown and for the most part things are pretty good. I can fart and hold my poop all I want. However, I certainly can NOT eat anything I want at this point. I...
I'm 2.5 weeks post takedown and it's no walk in the park but thing slowly seem to get better. Hang in there you're almost done! Good luck....
I went pain pump all 3 surgeries. Worked fine, I didn't see a need for the epidural....
Ryan, thank you for your awesome post. I am certainly trying to limit my expectations here and just relax with the whole thing. I know I'm doing fairly well already and that its a process...a slow...
Thanks for the responses. Yea things are definitely better today. I've gone once and its about noon. I was certainly rushing the diet too much. Not that I was eating horribly or anything but tomato...
I would deff talk to your surgeon about these issues. Especially the stool coming out and the incredible soreness you're still having....
Thanks pluot. I really don't plan on taking the lomotil unless I have to go somewhere (like a wedding this Saturday) it's more of a safety net if needed. I'd certainly rather avoid it and lower my...
When is your takedown scheduled? Or what's the timeframe?...
So just a little update. The past 4-5 days have been really tough. I have attributed it to poor diet. Yesterday I took a step back and ate really bland (basically peanut butter sandwiches, bananas...
Hello and welcome! Well I had my step two at the end of July and had my take down almost 2 weeks ago. I'll say this about step two, sorenes and rectal pain last quite a long time. 11 weeks seems way...
I really hope it's something that will pass or is an easy fix because I'm pretty miserable the past couple of days. I'm going fairly often and it comes on pretty string. I let go of a few small farts...
Yup, definitely had that and it's totally normal. The way it was explained to me is that everything in there has to settle into it's new position since an organ was removed. She'll have that fullness...
So today I had my first "bad" day. I was home all day and had nothing planned except scream at the god awful giants as they disappoint me yet again. Well I'm a also getting a head cold or havin some...
One week post-op update: So today is one week since I had the surgery. Overall I'd say things are going way better than I expected. My surgeon keeps saying I'm a "model patient". My abdominal pain is...
Things are still going great. My pouch is a little bit more active than that first day home since I'm weening off the pain meds. Still not bad. I can hold it as long as I need and have no senses of...
No no no I meant 3 to 5 times, the "dash" must've auto corrected out. Yea I have a follow up on the 23rd....
Thanks for all of the responses. I'm steadily going mayb 35 times during the day. I went once last night because of gas. There is a ton of gas that generates and it's actually kindof hard to release....
My wound is loosely sutured as well. They said I don't need to cover it for the shower but I do anyways at least for the first week or so I will. I've had 2 bm's today. The second one was mainly...
Wow! It sucks you were in so much pain but that doesn't seem like a terrible outcome. Jut some hemmies is much better than crohns or anything that needs surgical intervention. Good to hear...
My site was initially closed and sutured with a packing. The packing is now removed and it's partially opened. I just change the gauze pad everyday and I cover it in the shower. I know that area has...
Penny, just wanted to say goodluck and I hope things get resolved and quickly! I don't really have anything to add as I think mostly everything has been covered. Stay positive!...
Damn signature never pops up in posts when I sign in by hitting the "reply" button. Anyways, I had one more thing to add. So last night was my first full night with an awake pouch, I didn't have any...
@arpr - how's your pouch doing? How man movements do you have during the day/night? Find anything really disturbs it? Any foods you haven't tried yet? Are you able to tell the difference between gas...
So I got released today. I feel good. As long as I keep moving my abdomen doesn't tighten up as much and this hurts a lot less. I am already experiencing butt burn and have started putting the zinc...
I'm peeing and pooping regularly now. The poop is very mucousy as I still haven't eaten any solid foods but I can control it fairly well. The peeing is becoming less of an issue. I did get up and...
Thank you for all of the well wishes! @katmom - click on my name and look through my posts. I've posted fairly in depth documentation of my experience with each step this far. Hopefully it'll help...
So Wednesday I had my pouch check and that was very uncomfortable. Mostly I think it was nerves since I don't want anything near my butthole at this point and worried they might damage the pouch....
Valley - sorry it's taken me so long to respond. So the purpose of crusting is to even out the surface of the skin, makes sure all skin oils aren't interrupting with the wafer and lastly it protects...
Convatec stuff irritates my skin as well no matter what barrier I try. Coloplast wafers do not adhere as well as Convatec so I use Hollister adhesive spray on the coloplast wafers and All is good....
You may or may not have tried these already but, get some Hollister medical adhesive spray. Spray it onto the precut wafer and let it dry. While it's drying remove old setup and clean the area apply...
The time period before the first surgery I was in no condition to really do anything. There's not really any "wish I hads" but between step one and step two I was able to eat a lot and after 6-8...
It's totally normal. I get it after most surgeries. It's something about the anestisia (sp?) and the nerves sending miss signals to the brain with the body being hotter or colder than it actually is....
http://ibdcrohns.about.com/od/prescriptiondrugs/i/nsaid.htm Once you get your colon out the disease is considered "cured" (UC that is) which means you can have NSAIDS. But according to this and my...
