Everything came back fine, thank God! The polyps turned out to be hyper-plastic. All of the other biopsies were benign as well....
Thank you so much! That makes me feel a lot better. I have never heard of the false polyps. That must be what my doc was saying. He didn’t seem concerned at all. I think he removed them just to be on...
Hi All! I haven’t posted for a long time, but I do lurk here and there  I had a routine colonoscopy last week, as I do every two years now. The doc said there was no active disease (yay!!), but...
Hi rdelias, My issue actually went away on its own. I still have it occasionally, but it's rare. I asked my doctor about it, and he said that if it went away fairly quickly after having a bowel...
I get labs done once a year by my GP. I see my GI doc once a year, and have scopes done every two years. He did tell me at my last visit that I will have to start annual scopes soon. Fun fun....
I’ve been taking Apriso for several years and don’t have any side effects at all. Are you sure you don’t have the flu? That’s what your symptoms sound like to me....
Welcome, Iyace! I have been a member on here for several years, but don’t post too often. I had a similar experience to what you’re describing. I had mild UC symptoms most of my life, but wasn’t...
Yes, I agree that the majority of women are breastfeeding their children now, so we’ll see if there’s a decrease in UC later down the road....
I guess it depends on what meds you’re taking? I breastfed two of my children while taking Asacol. My OBGYN, gastroenterologist, and the kids’ pediatrician all said it was safe....
I wish I could say this was accurate. My mother breastfed all of us and sadly, my sister and I still both ended up with UC....
And let me add that my last scope two years ago cost around $6000 between the facility, Doctor, anesthesiologist, and the labs... So my cost was about $1200. I do these every two years currently, and...
I think your doc will still be able to see if you have UC after taking the meds. In my personal experience, there have been times when I was in remission, having no real symptoms, and the doc still...
I have felt like that during a flare just from being so sick and weak. I could barely get out of bed or off my couch for several months. It's a terrible feeling. The doctor said I was getting better,...
The UTI's I have had were cultured and are strep infections, not e-coli, so wiping really doesn't seem to be the issue in this case....
I stand corrected on the Propofol thing. My doc made me have a driver when he used it for my scope, but someone who worked at the endoscopy center told me that some ppl do drive after a light...
I did fine finding gummie bears without red and purple... There's a lot of clear, yellow, orange and green in there....
@ipoop: Your user name is perfect for this disease, lol....
@Red_34: Are you still having a problem with chronic UTI's? I had one a year ago that cleared up quickly. A couple of weeks ago, I started having symptoms that were extremely painful, and much worse...
I agree with you. Some of the names are hilarious....
No red or purple of course......
Gummie bears are also a nice treat while prepping! It makes you feel like you're actually eating something....
Any chance your doc could use Propofol for sedation? Some docs don't require a driver after a scope if they use that....
While taking just Ducolax pills for the prep seems it would be the easiest way to go, I personally wouldn't do it because Ducolax give me horrible stomach cramps just from the few I have to take with...
I was scoped during a flare a few years ago. I think it does help if the doc can get in there and see what's happening, especially if you don't already have pancolitis and they want to see if the UC...
I take Apriso and use their savings card. My co-pay would normally be $50, but I only pay $10 after the Salix discount card. I personally have had much better results with the Apriso then Asacol or...
I agree with everyone else.... My stools are all out of whack at that time of the month. Just par for the course I guess....
I know I'm starting a flare when I start getting the familiar gassy pains in my lower abdominal area... The kind that cause my mouth to water like I'm going to vomit. Then the diarrhea will start. I...
I'm so sorry your doc has given you such a scare! I don't really know your situation very well, but this was not the course of treatment for either one of my deliveries since being diagnosed with UC....
Thank you! The NP I saw was surprised that my doc doesn't have me scheduled for more frequent scopes.. He has me getting them every two years, although he might be changing that now that it's been...
Thank you for your replies! That does make me feel better to think that it's probably just internal hemmies. The weird thing is that I've never had bleeding before, even when I was in my worst flare....
So, I've been having bright red bleeding off and on for the last two months. The blood is in the water and on the tp.... Seems to be getting worse. It's there whether I'm having a BM or not. I didn't...
I am experiencing something very similar. I am taking 4 Apriso once a day.... Thought I was in a ful remission because I've been having one formed BM a day... All of a sudden, I've started getting...
I remember waking up with my first one. I just said, "ouch, that hurts," and then I went back to sleep, so they obviously gave me more sedation. I have had two more since then and didn't wake up....
Hi! I was undiagnosed when I was pregnant with my first child, but definitely had UC... I had D the entire pregnancy. I had two more children after I was diagnosed with no major flaring. I took...
http://www.aprisorx.com/hcp/ This link explains how it works....
I have been on Apriso for a year and a half and have not noticed any in my stool. I used to see Asacol tablets come out whole when I was on that. As far as PH, Apriso doesn't change the level, but it...
It's possible to have a kidney infection with back pain as the only symptom. It's good you're going in to have it checked. Keep us posted....
I am in my longest remission right now. It's been almost 2 years with no real symptoms (formed stools once or twice a day.) Up to this point, I always had diahrrea and urgency....
I was just coming here to post about this myself!! I thought this was very inspiring!...
I just looked it up, and Tramadol is the prescription pain med that isn't a narcotic or NSAID. I've never taken it, but have heard it's effective. Not sure if anyone else on here has experience with...
You can get assistance with your meds if you need it. Most UC meds have assistance programs or at least savings cards that are helpful. If you qualify, you may even get free meds. You have to talk to...
I'm so glad you got a proper diagnosis!! Wow, I would be very upset with my doc if I were you. They are human and sometimes get it wrong, but they should have listened to you and run some tests....
My sister and I both have UC. No other confirmed cases in our family, but our grandfather had GI issues. He apparently had a colostomy. Not sure why because he died when I was young and no one seems...
I personally would not be interested in logging everything either, but I will share what I feel has helped me with my current remission. My last flare was about 2 1/2 years ago, about the time that...
I would definitely go back to the doctor ASAP and have them test you for CDiff. Antibiotics can cause this. I would say your symptoms could possibly change to diarrhea with UC, but it seems strange...
I went undiagnosed for many, many years because the diarrhea was mild and I had no pain or blood. When I was finally diagnosed, I had diarrhea 24/7 for several months, but still no pain or blood. It...
IAS - You've just opened my imagination to a while host of issues I never thought of!! Texting while doing procedure? Yikes!!...
Wow, this article was really upsetting to me. I just had a colonoscopy on Friday, too, and now I wonder what kind of a laugh they had at my expense while I was out. :( I feel the docs should treat...
It really depends on your body and the timing of your prep. I was still going when I got to the endoscopy center at 8:30, but the doc had me get up at 3:00 in the morning to drink the second half of...
@ toomuchpoopin - I thought the same thing when I used it two years ago... But for some reason, it made me throw up when I used it this last week. :-/...
