Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll go shopping this weekend....
For those that make morning smoothies, what kind of protein are you adding to them that is easy on the gut?...
I think the cheapest way to get high quality probiotics is by making your own kefir and fermented foods. It's so easy to do and very inexpensive compared to any probiotic on the market....
Are you taking probiotics? The antibiotics probably did some damage to your good/bad bacteria balance. I'd suggest VSL or another high potency probiotic to help get things back in balance....
Thanks Everyone-I'm pretty surprised it is having this kind of impact. It's been so long since I've have normal BM's, I was in shock when everything stabilized like it has. Hopefully it continues!...
Hi Everyone--Just wanted to share my positive news-- I added Citrucel to the mix a few weeks ago and the results have been really positive. My Bm's have been cut down to 3-4 per day and the urgency...
This story reminds me of the birth of my first son. My wife had a c-section and I had to wait in a room for about 30-45 minutes while they prepped her. You have to wear an outfit that resembles a...
Hey UCyousee-did you notice any improvement after starting the GSE?...
Awesome..thanks Gary. I'm going to order that brand on Amazon and start later this week. Hopefully it makes a big difference for me. Are you on any type of diet modification? Currently, I am...
Thanks Gary..I was hoping that someone had similar results. Are you still using the 400 mg Olympain Labs GSE? ...
I just received my results from the gut test. I haven't had a chance to review the raw information in any detail but here is some of my data-- Top 5 Bacteria-- Firmicutes 82.85% 2Bacteroidetes 2.99%...
That seems a little weird that you would not need a prior authorization. I've had two insurance companies require a prior auth for Entyvio. Sometimes reps are not that well trained on newer meds and...
I've noticed a few side effects. I get really bad fatigue about a week after the infusion. Only lasts for about 24 hours but it's pretty severe for that day. Also have noticed some dry skin/eczema...
Thanks Jacket & Journey-How hard was it to get your GP to agree to prescribe Lexipro? I do need to try to stick with mesalamine enemas for a long period of time. I have a rather large stockpile of...
Thanks Platinum---Sonds like they are helping at least a few people on this site. I'm definitely going to ask my GI about it on the next appt....
Jacket-do you take the Lexipro for just bowel related reasons? Journey-Did the Lexipro help with remission? Fight uc-does the Mag Citrate cause loose BMs? It seems to be used to relieve constipation....
One of my last remaining problems is anxiety related urgency. Every time I get in a car, a checkout line at the store, morning meetings, walks not near a bathroom, etc., I experience really annoying...
Also try the forums at http://jpouch.org/ . It's a pretty active forum of people that have undergone colon surgery....
Any ideas on the recommended dosage? The probiotics I have found online only contain a small amount of Clostridium butyricum (1.5 MM is the most I've seen). 45% is better than Entyvio so definitely...
Last scope was in 2011. I'm not scheduled to get my next scope until March 2016. My days are mostly 5-6 BMs but some of those are anxiety related. The more I think about it, the more I am convinced I...
I'm starting to question whether or not my UC is in remission and I dealing with IBS at this point-- My reasons for thinking it's in remission are--- I've been on Entyvio since August which allowed...
Congrats!!! It is awesome to hear such good news!!...
Make sure you check out the patient assistance websites for the drugs you have been prescribed. Most of them will reduce your payment to a very manageable level. If you don't have insurance, you can...
DMC-I know what you mean about finding a new route to the bathroom. I'm sure no one is paying attention but I always think people are counting how many times I use the bathroom. Before my building...
In the short term, you need to wear a bag after having surgery. It's a 2 or 3 step process but if you opt for a J-pouch procedure, they hook everything back up and you do not need to wear a bag....
I agree with the others that Oxy is not a long term solution and could be doing more harm than good. Azathioprine & Entyvio take a while to start working. Azathioprine takes at least a month and...
Nooooooooooooooooo.....I thought we were done with the Tangy Tangerine stuff. /community/emoticons/turn.gif ...
Good for you Gary! I love to read about people that have gotten to a good place and can move on with their normal lives....

I can't seem to get over an upper respiratory infection. I had it for the last two weeks and there are no signs it is getting better. It's probably developed into bronchitis at this point. I was...
Is this being tested as a UC treatment as well?...
I remember those first few months of Prednisone that gave me unlimited energy. I think it brings out OCD. I pretty much cleaned the house/garage/landscaping from top to bottom while I was on high...
Juststud--I'm thinking the crackling fire would really relax me....
Thanks everyone for the comments and advice. I'm going to start this weekend. Hopefully I have healed enough to maintain them for the night. When I was in bad shape I remember the struggle to hold...
Thanks everyone for your comments. The key for me is going to be sticking with the regimen. Canasa is so much easier to administer. I feel enemas require much more effort but hopefully I will be able...
Ipoop-how soon did you start to notice the enemas working? Stud-I've tried them in the past but things were way too messed up for me to keep them in for more than a few minutes. Canasa has always...
First the good news--Entyvio has gotten me off 3 years of Prednisone, firmed up my BMs, allow me to sleep through the night and eliminated bleeding. Now the not so good news-- Mornings suck, still...
Hey Dread- Thanks for sharing. There was a big thread last year on Tart cherry juice. I do remember a few people seeing positive results from tart cherry. Unfortunately, I was not one of them but it...
I was on Pred for about 3 years straight. When you are on that long, it's essential that you taper at a very very very slow pace. Also, try to keep your stress levels as low as possible while you...
I would head to the ER. Sounds like you need to get stabilized and possibly hydrated. Don't worry about the cost right now. You can always work out a payment plan with the hospital. I had a friend...
Unfortunately Buffalo, NY is a deadzone for Mexican grocery stores. These are the ingredients for True Nopal-- Water, Prickly Pear Concentrate, Natural Flavor. Serving size: 8 fl oz Servings per...

Hey Nix- I've been doing pretty well but not in remission. Still having a lot of problems in the morning with urgency and frequency. I believe my anxiety levels are at least partially to blame with...
Bob's red mill potato starch seems to be the most readily available. I looked and it's available on Amazon.uk....
Congrats Bananagirl-you deserve a long remission!...
Best of luck to you. Sorry that Entyvio did not work for you but hopefully you have comfort knowing you tried all the meds and gave it your best shot before going with surgery....
