Yes, it can be a very unnerving time, but hard to quantify as being a manifestation from the surgery itself or the panic in hoping it is successful. I only saw really positive results after 18mths....
Hi Folks, Not been on in a while so I thought I'd give an update. I'll note that initially I was was one of the unlucky one's who didn't get relief after the surgery and reflux was as rampant as ever...
Hey folks, not been on here in ages. The story so far us that the unrelenting acid in my throat has significantly reduced, I now get much weaker attacks which over the counter antacid controls...
If I could reverse that damn procedure, I would in a heart beat. Did absolutely nothing for me, my throat is still lashed with reflux 18mths later, plus I have given myself 3 other chronic ailments...
It's a long journey mate, surgeon said up to 18mths for recovery and if unlucky, a possibility of lifelong symptoms, things to calm down to a manageable level though....
Yeah, I was jumping to all sorts of conclusions, low blood pressure etc etc!! So many symptoms from this flaming procedure!!!...
I'm just over year post op now and I've had around roughly 3 dizzy spells in the past 2mths, they last around 30mins for me. After my op, I had them almost daily for a good 6mths or so...
Are you post Nissen? Sorry, the posts are very long to read through!...
I've been on 75mg amatrip. for 5yrs purely to keep me wakening from sleep. It never affected my esophagus post or pre Nissen operation. I think amatrip effects on the condition are anecdotal at best...
Me also my friend, very very severe post 6mths but it has gone down substantially in the past 4mths. I had migraines most of my adult life and now experience excruciating pain across my jaw line and...
Hi guys, I haven't post for a while. As per my last logs/posts/updates, I still had been experiencing severe bouts of acid in my larynx area, on/off for a few days pattern. Fast forward, I now work...
Thanks Sharonz, I was referred for headaches a while back but everything takes an age in Ireland!Tried anti-gas meds, they weren't terrible effective, I do eat small meals as much as possible but the...
I now get 2-3wk 'breaks' from my throat being attacked but when I do have it back for 1-3wks, it's just as bad as before my Nissin (8mths ago) Just strange how it can be intermittent?!...
On a plus, my reflex although still hitting my throat, can give me clear spells of as much as two weeks at a time, it will return though for as long as three weeks at a time and I have to constantly...
As per title has anyone experienced similar? After I eat my main meal/dinner, I suffer really massive bloating, looking like I'm 6mths pregnant (not such a great look for a bloke) and 9/10 I will get...
Yes Sharon, I often get bouts of nausea now, at least once every two days like you say, comes from nowhere....
Hi Sharon, thanks for your reply. I would have ate 6-10 small meals a day previously but even the thought of that makes me feel ill now. I've since realised it was time to retire from competition and...
Have only had the near constant nausea post op...
Quick update I'm now feeling considerably better re the throat reflux with way more good days than bad, I really think ditching the PPIs has played a part, I still need Gaviscon Adance now and then...
Wasn't ever diagnosed with that LiveJoy, still haven't even been formally told it's LPR, surgeon just went with the fundoplication which hasnt resolved anything. I had been on the drugs for 18mths...
no probs and just to put into context, I was on 80mgs esomeprazole and 600mgs zantac per day! Didn't taper off at all. Good luck....
Tbh much of 'weaning off' is a mental thing, I've abruptly stopped my PPI'S and symptoms haven't armed up at all. I've also stopped depression meds abruptly several times in my life and didn't suffer...
I tend to agree on reflux still occurring post surgery if ppis didn't work, as has been my case. I'm on 75mg a'trip for trapped nerves/sleep, I really don't know what it would do for reflux though,...
horrible, I know the feeling! Coincidentally I had to rush one of my Pixiebob cats to the vets only 2 days after my fundoplication and spent almost 48hrs awake checking up on her! Hope you both get...
Try a stool softener BTW, I had bowel impaction after the nissin fundoplication and it worked fantastic for me...
There isn't one tbh, I've tried everything and I'm qualified partially through a sport science degree and I know a fair amount on nutrition. I'll get blasted in the throat at some stage of the day...
Yeah, I eat more ore less the same, had been involved in powerlifting for 22yrs so have whittled 80% of my diet down to eggs, good quality MRPs, cereals and one conventional meal a day. It's tough...
I'm in the same boat, I've had the fundoplication with no success. everything has always been in my throat. It doesn't matter what I eat, everything gave me the burning throat. I have had periods for...
Ok, something possibly noteworthy, stopped PPIs around 5days ago, my symptoms have steadily subsided and in the last 2 days I've only needed Galvescon twice? Anyone experience similar with coming off...
Yeah, it's eased off a bit by now but in the first month I couldn't have strayed too far from the toilet haha! And had impacted bowels for 3 days, the most horrific experience I have ever suffered...
Yes I read that pepsin can be belched up into the throat and is prob the main cause, which would make sense as I have never had any bad taste in my mouth at all, nor do I get symptoms when lying...
hi, I have a further PH test to go through and also been referred to ENT to check for abnormalities in my throat. I can't understand how it still gets past into the throat after the fundoplication?...
hi, it really doesn't matter what I eat, I still have it, I've been a world level athlete and have trained for 22yrs, as well as having a sport science degree, so I have all my nutrition etc down....
No one?...
Hi, I had a 360 fundoplication 4th Dec 2015. My acid symptoms were and still are in my throat right at larynx area, I have been badly affected for 2yrs. Initially I thought it was a success but it...
